Over a normal conversation the other day I was asked by someone, do pheromones work? I thought about it for a while and actually couldn’t answer truthfully. Sure I had heard of pheromones before. They were something that magically moves through the air and attracts members of the opposite sex instantly to you. To be honest, it all sounded like rubbish to me. So I hit the internet and did some more research into the matter. I found came to a few conclusions:
I found that there are lots of people using pheromones. In fact, there is a huge online community of people that swear by them.
I also found that although scientists know pheromones exist, they still have no idea why they have this effect on the opposite sex.
I decided to test them on myself and answer the question, do pheromones work.
PHEROMONE ARTICLE - REMEMBER TO READ RECOMMENDED SITES AT THE BOTTOM
The concept of the human "sixth sense" of a sexual attraction hormone scent that is virtually undetectable to the human sense of smell, but definitely exists, is one that has been long debated and researched.
Pheromones are a real, unique scent that each of us and many other mammals gives off in order to attract suitable mates.
You can even witness pheromones at work in your own life too. Do you remember any particular times when you found yourself inexplicably drawn to certain people? They may not even have been your type in the physical sense, but yet you found yourself intensely attracted to them sexually.
This very scenario has certainly played out for most of you, and it is most definitely pheromones hard at work. For whatever reason, certain people may emit more of this mysterious scent, and consequently they receive noticeably more attention and curiosity from the opposite sex.
There have actually been studies done on the effects of pheromones on humans and whether there really is anything to this sexual attraction "magnet" theory. You may also notice pheromones at work certain times of the month more than others.
Most people will notice differences in the attention they get at different times during the month. This usually can be attributed to higher amounts of pheromone production and emission.
Human pheromones are so powerful and influential that they can influence women's menstrual cycles that live together. Most women who live with other females adjust their menstrual cycle timing to closely match eachother.
The hypothesized mechanism behind the detection of pheromones by other humans is the vomeronasal organ, or VNO, which is theorized to be just inside the nostrils.
So, Do Externally Applied Pheromone Products Work?
The resounding answer to this question seems to be YES. There have been numerous studies conducted with couples and even twins put in the same position at bars as a social experiment. The overwhelming outcome of the studies was that the people who applied human pheromones were approached more often, and the couples hugged, kissed and had sex more often, and the twin that applied the pheromones received double the attention and people approaching as the twin that did not apply them.
So yes, pheromones do work, and they can be an excellent way to attract more attention from men and women alike, or even to do your own little "experiment". Why not?
